Over the hedge
There's much to be discovered over the hedge. A little nosiness goes a long way and can enliven the most pedestrian of walks. Take this scene for example, not five minutes from my own front door. A derelict bungalow on the northern outskirts of New Anzac on Sea sitting adjacent to an unmade road and so redolent of the place only thirty years ago. Lots of exhortations neither to enter nor trespass, and being a law abiding citizen all that was required was a parting of the bushes to reveal this enchanting little scene. An early Renault 4 sits disconsolately rotting in the concrete garage which is in turn being taken over by the undergrowth. Not much longer for this world I feel and probably way beyond being salvageable if my experience of the tin foil thickness of the floor in these cars is anything to go by.

Save that classic car before it needs any (more) welding. Renault 4's will all be gone soon. A bit underpowered for my liking but my mate's neighbour once put a Renault 5 Gordini engine in a Renault 4 van, which we all found amusing. Apparently R4's regularly knock out driveshafts on one side but I can't remember which one.
I fear that despite its apparent reasonable nick it's way past it. Never had the driveshaft problems with mine, but got through two floors. Once managed to wind it out of a tricky situation on the starting handle having removed the plugs. 6 volt was hopeless on cold winter mornings...otherwise heaps of fun.
Has Ron seen this? He once came over to see me and went on his own to the fens in order to give a Renault 4 the once over. I seem to remember he had to take a taxi from some God forsaken halt and when he got to the place he lifted up the tailgate and got showered in two gallons of rusty water.
