Doorway conundrum

Here's an intriguing doorway. Can anyone tell me why it is this small and where it is located? We spent a pleasant couple of hours at the location in question where I indulged my rather chavvie (and new-found) taste for Magners and ice. Cider is what I started on and I suppose it's some sort of regression. Yes, yes, yes, I know it's not 'real' cider, but that Kingston Black my uncle introduced me to years ago was, and probably still is proper wheelbarrow mixture and not at all suitable for a lunchtime session.

I have a couple of Kingston black on order for my orchard in the hope that they will improve my already reasonably decent cider...I'll let you know.

Hmmm...and a stonking great chunk of proper cheddar. The recipe for a lost afternoon. Long live cider!

Is it in Devon?

There are a few houses with doors like this on the quay at Bideford. The pubs make do with sandbags, but they don't always work. My wife's got a picture of her dad stood at the bar of the White Hart with the River Torridge almost up to the top of his wellies.

Excellent effort. Right reason wrong place which is only incidental to the right reason if you see what I mean...

Is it in Lewes? Big on flooding I hear, particularly around the Shrine of Harveys.

Too true, Harveys have built an enormous flood defence wall to protect the brewery. Actually the location is Bosham, Chichester. We visited the rather poncily named 'Anchor Bleu', originally and obviously 'The Blue Anchor', prior to a visit to the excellent Pallant gallery last week. Anyone who's been to Bosham knows that the tide comes in rather quickly and very high tides process up the slight incline to the streets of cottages...hence the measures taken. It's a strange sight to see seaweed (should that be see weed?) all over the road that has been left behind as the tide goes out. There are dire warnings about where not to park anything but an Amphicar.

That's really interesting. We could do with some doorways like this round Gloucestershire to cope with the Severn floods.

Pleased to hear Harvey's are protecting themselves.
